I’m delighted to report that, after a long break, the people of Liuzhou have taken to falling down holes again. At the weekend, this 50 year old man kept up the tradition by falling into a well and having to be rescued.

Can it.

This is utterly bizarre. My cell phone service provider, China Mobile, sends out daily news digests by SMS. Yesterday they send me a most unusual and somewhat sinister story.

Trapped Again

Sunday, 2 March 2008 7:15 P GMT+08
