No One in Hole - Official

Monday, 6 April 2009 1:56 P GMT+08
Regular readers (both of you) will recall that Liuzhou has a long history of people (and buffaloes) falling down holes. There haven't been any recent examples and now I read that, for sure, no one has fallen down one particular hole.

Sunday, 23 November 2008 1:11 P GMT+08
Well, they finally opened their underground shopping mall inches from the river which floods the city every year. It came on line today.

Hole Falling History

Sunday, 25 May 2008 7:48 P GMT+08
I'm delighted to learn that falling down holes is a long established China tradition and not unique to Liuzhou (although perhaps Liuzhou takes it more seriously than other locations).

Hospital in Hole

Saturday, 26 April 2008 3:52 P GMT+08
I couldn't make this up! Over the years, I have often mentioned the amazing regularity with which Liuzhou people like to fall down holes. Most of them end up being taken to hospital. Now the hospital has decided to fall down a hole, too.

Well again.

Tuesday, 25 March 2008 8:28 A GMT+08
I’m delighted to report that, after a long break, the people of Liuzhou have taken to falling down holes again. At the weekend, this 50 year old man kept up the tradition by falling into a well and having to be rescued.

Trapped Again

Sunday, 2 March 2008 7:15 P GMT+08
The locals have a new hobby to replace falling down holes and getting rings stuck on your fingers. The young lady who became trapped in her motorcycle seems to have started a trend.

The Hole Art of Photography

Tuesday, 18 December 2007 11:25 A GMT+08
At the weekend, my neighbour decided to install a new front door. This involved drilling into masonry and generally banging, shrieking and whining all day. So I went out.

Sea of Holes

Thursday, 13 December 2007 9:44 A GMT+08
I don't want to go on about this, but I hope the nutters who decided to build Liuzhou's underground shopping mall in the town centre have read this article. It gives examples of bits of China which have developed holes where there shouldn't be holes

Holy Tradition

Wednesday, 17 October 2007 3:30 P GMT+08
I'm glad to note that the good people of Liuzhou are keeping up their traditions in my brief absence from the city.

"They're planting stories in the press"

Sunday, 23 September 2007 11:43 P GMT+08
I'm delighted to discover that Liuzhou is spending its money wisely. I live just off one of the major thoroughfares of the city and, over the last few months, the locals have been digging up the road and then remaking it.

Hole in one!

Thursday, 13 September 2007 12:41 P GMT+08
As regular readers know, the good people of Liuzhou do not lack ingenuity.

"Would you like to take that shower, now?"

Friday, 27 July 2007 2:38 P GMT+08
The locals have been amusing themselves again.

Caution Hole

Wednesday, 18 July 2007 7:08 A GMT+08
I was on my way to buy a shiny new computer today when I spotted this. Having pointed out several times that Liuzhou people like falling down holes, I had to show you this.

Been shooting craps and gambling, momma, and I done got broke

Monday, 16 July 2007 8:37 A GMT+08
It seems that Liuzhou people don't only like to fall down wells and other holes, jump off bridges etc., but have also taken up falling off cliffs.

The Whole Story

Tuesday, 19 June 2007 6:55 A GMT+08
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall

"holes where babies wail"

Thursday, 7 June 2007 1:08 P GMT+08
This is not Liuzhou related, but given the prevalence of the locals falling down holes, I felt the need to alert you to this.

Caving In

Friday, 25 May 2007 12:51 P GMT+08
For the third time in less than a year, the good people of Liuzhou have taken to falling down holes.

Well, well, well

Sunday, 14 January 2007 2:13 P GMT+08
I seem to have started a fashion! It feels like only a few weeks ago, but it was back in August when I informed you of the buffallo which fell into a well and had to be rescued.

Sex change 70 year old and the buffalo down the well.

A couple of bizarre stories in the newspapers this week.
